PHP Website Developer - Full Time

Due to company expansion and continuing success, we are recruiting for a website developer. The candidate will report to the senior developer and work on a variety of exciting projects for a range of clients both regional and national.

The position is suited to a candidate with up to 1 year’s experience of PHP development, ideally in a commercial environment. They will have a passion for the Internet and keeping up-to-speed with the latest technologies.

The individual with work within the team to create sites using both the in-house CMS system and bespoke programming as required on a project-by-project basis. The sites will range from standard CMS-driven sites, to E-commerce, Portals and Bespoke Systems.

Suitable candidates will require experience of the following:

  • Website development using PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • jQuery, AJAX and interest in APIs such as Google Maps and Facebook
  • Experience of developing for and working with Content Management Systems (CMS)
  • Ability to build secure, functional websites from specification
  • Understanding of business requirements, deadlines and meeting expectations

Also for the position, any of the following skills would be advantageous:

  • Object-Orientated/MVC programming
  • Linux Server Administration
  • Website Integration using XML, RSS and SOAP
  • E-commerce and Payment Gateways
  • Open source – Wordpress, Magento, Drupal
  • API Integration such as Twitter, Facebook, Amazon, eBay, Vebra/Rightmove

The initial salary offer is £16 to £20K per annum dependent on experience, with 4 weeks paid holiday. The position offers an opportunity to grow with an expanding company with great prospects of promotion. Training and support will be given to the right candidate.

The position is based at our office in Amble, Northumberland. Amble is north of Newcastle-upon-Tyne on the North-East coast. The position is due to commence in June 2013.
