Founder
Colin's Role: Colin is the founder of the company, having launched Colin Harris Website Development in 2006. Initially the business was a freelance company offering PHP development services to clients; however in 2011 Colin took the opportunity to expand the business into a full service agency offering design, development, hosting and graphic design.
Colin's role is to manage and run the company on a day to day basis. This includes business development, project management, financial planning and researching into technology to further grow the business.
Background: Colin started designing websites in 1994 whilst studying for his BA Music and Music Technology degree at Newcastle University. Upon graduating Colin held numerous IT positions before becoming a full time website designer in 1999.
Before establishing his own company in 2006, Colin held several roles including digital marketing manager, PHP developer and technical manager.
Favourite aspect of the job: “I thoroughly enjoy the social side of my job, from working with and growing my team of talented individuals to discussing new project ideas with clients.
“The world of the web is constantly evolving and reacting to each new technological advance on a commercial basis provides me with great enjoyment.”
Biggest challenge to date: “My greatest challenge to date and indeed an ongoing challenge is organically growing the business in a responsible manner whilst meeting the ambitions and objectives of the company.”
Hobbies: The most valuable way Colin spends his time is with his two young daughters. As well as being a keen musician Colin is a passionate member of his local community and is part of several local groups including Amble Business Club.
Opinion on the future of the web: “I am fascinated by convergence - the merging of all the current web technologies and devices into a single protocol and I feel this has a vital role to play in the future of technology. I believe that all data and information will one day be accessed in the same manner, with the device being a universal device, not necessarily a phone, tablet or pc.”
