What is page management?

The Harris CMS allows clients to simply edit the whole structure of a site - add pages & sections, remove pages, show or hide pages, edit pages and their content, move pages up or down - all are standard features of Harris CMS. Options are clearly marked with friendly icons or menus and assistance is given along the way to guide any level of user.

Why use page management?

Safety First.

Could you imagine if you decided to create a page and straight away it was visible to the public? Harris CMS takes care of this problem by ensuring that all new content is initially hidden to the public. Users can work on and edit content as required until they are happy, and only then can make pages live.

No knowledge of website design required.

Pages are edited using what is called a WYSIWYG editor - "what you see is what you get". Page content is shown inside an editor and appears the same as inside the live website - fonts, colours, images and other elements are shown in the same format. You can then edit the page as you would edit a word document - add images, make text different fonts or colours, add pagination and heading text format. The editor takes care of all the HTML so you do not need to worry about that. An 'edit source' option is available for those who do wish to directly manipulate the HTML of each page.

Restricting Access.

Often there are situations in an organisation where it is not desirable for all users to be able to manage all of a website. Available as a module is the ability to enforce restrictions to CMS usage - users can be a 'superuser' who can do anything - or a normal user, whose permissions to use the CMS are set by a superuser. Access to certain CMS sections can be granted or denied, and page modifications can only be made live on approval by a superuser.

Customise what content and where.

Harris CMS contains the power to enable users to set the type of page required and also to include content from dynamic modules used elsewhere on the site. Harris CMS also takes care of SEO requirements such as friendly URLs and Meta Tags to ensure your site is as visible as possible to Search Engines.
