Contracts & Rates

When we work with clients, each project has its own requirements and therefore each project will have its own terms. we tend to work in one of three ways.

Working on a project or contract

When a client approaches us to work on a specific job, we will create a specification and quotation based on the customer's requirements. Once costs, timescales and terms have been agreed we send a contract to the client (unless the work is only for a few hours) to agree the project scope. Financial terms are agreed at this point - either payment on completion for the full amount or staged payment with deposit depending on the project scale and deadlines. Elements of 'scope slip' and 'maintenace' are included in contracts to accomodate the fact that projects often require fine-tuning as they progress.

Extra work outside of the project is then done either on a pre-agreed hourly rate or via a new quotation.

Working on an ongoing basis

Some clients work with us on an ongoing basis - where we're asked to do work on an ad-hoc basis or on various projects, or for when it is not possible to fully detail a project's requirements. For these occasions we work on a job-bag system to a pre-arranged hourly rate, where we detail the time spent and costs accrued on each project and invoice the client on a monthly basis.

Support and Maintenance Arrangements

Companies sometime prefer to have a predefined arrangement with us, where a certain level of website development time, support and maintenance each month is paid for. This is often combined with projects where we host the sites on our own servers. Levels of support and costs are negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

Additional Costs

Occasionally projects require additional elements outside of our time and costs. Where these are purchased, all elements are placed in the name of the client where possible. These are invoiced to clients at cost along with the main project costs.

Extra costs that are sometimes encountered for web projects include:

  • Domain Names
  • Hosting Charges
  • Software Licences
  • Stock wemage License Fees
  • Print and Graphic Design Costs
  • Media
